Synopsis: No matter where you are from, you have probably heard of the National Rifle Association, or NRA. What you may not know is what the NRA does specifically. It is the NRA's mission to protect the second amendment, the peoples right to bear arms. The way it does this is by offering citizens memberships to the organization, for a price. You can pay to be an annual member, in which case you renew each year, or a life member, in which case you are a member until you die. There is a price difference between the two, and some of the benefits vary. The money from your membership is used by the NRA to fight gun control and improve gun safety awareness, and in return give you your member benefits.

There are many benefits to being an NRA member, but the first one is that you will receive a membership card. That card allows you to get special members only discounts at select stores and websites when ordering. You also get up to $2,500 worth of ArmsCare coverage. It is insurance that protects your firearms, air guns, bows, and arrows against theft, damage, or accidental loss.

Another valuable benefit is their life insurance. Annual members receive $5,000 worth of accidental death or dismemberment coverage. This protects you while at, going to, or leaving an NRA event; or in the case of a firearm or hunting equipment related accident while hunting. Life members get that same insurance, but they receive up to $10,000 worth of coverage. Members who are law enforcement officers will also get $25,000 worth of life insurance in the case of them being killed in the line of duty.

As you can see from this list, there are many benefits to being an NRA member. If you are hunting sports enthusiast, or a law enforcement officer, the benefits alone should be enough for you to want to join. Couple those with the fact that you are helping protect American citizens right to bear arms, and why wouldn't you want to join?
